Create your home page

The home page is the first page you see when opening Church Center, so you want to ensure people see the most important things on that home page. You can create a traditional home page with general details about your church or set the Me page as the start page so your congregation members can easily view their current information. 

Edit your home page

Add announcements and styled graphics with links, or display upcoming events or Giving funds. Check out this example of a home page.

If you'd like inspiration from others for your home page, the Planning Center communities on Slack or Facebook are great ways for churches to share advice and connect. Go to the #product-publishing channel on Slack to see custom page designs and shared templates!

  1. Select Pages from the top navigation bar.

  2. Select Home from the list of active pages.

  3. Drag and drop blocks from the right sidebar to customize the content of your home page. A description of each block is included in the section below!

Block types

Button

Create a button and attach a hyperlink to it. Selecting the Open link in new tab only applies when someone is using the Church Center web pages and not the app.

Contact

Add contact information that congregants can select or tap to contact your church.

Divider

Add a horizontal line to divide sections of your page.

Event schedule

Add a date, time, and description of an event.

Image

Add an image. Select an image from your device, images previously used, or the Unsplash integration. Attach a hyperlink to the image to use it as a button. Selecting the Open link in new tab only applies when someone is using the Church Center web pages and not the app.

Use the Image Sizing Guide to upload the right size and file type.

Location

Enter an address to generate a map view on the page.

Section header

Add a header for a section of your page. You can add a background image, button, and text.

Social

Add a link to your church's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube page.

Text

Add some text to your page.

Video

Add a URL or embed code to a video hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, Resi, or Boxcast.

Grid

Add multiple items, such as buttons and images with hyperlinks and texts, and display them in a grid with up to three columns. You can adjust the number of columns based on mobile and desktop views.

It's recommended to have no more than 12 items per block.

Any content added to an item will show on the published page.

Planning Center blocks

Add content from Planning Center products to your custom pages. A page can hold one content block for each product.

Add a header image

Header images are displayed with a 16:9 aspect ratio on both web and mobile. The recommended dimensions are 2000x1125 pixels.

Images can be PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP files, up to 10 MB.

  1. Drag the Section header block from the right sidebar and drop it into your home page.

  2. Select Upload image.

  3. Add your image file in the popup.

  4. Select Add image.

Add a linked image

Make your images clickable so that when someone selects the image, they'll be taken to a linked page.

  1. Drag the Image block from the right sidebar and drop it into your home page.

  2. Select Choose image.

  3. Add your image file in the popup.

  4. Select Add image.

  5. Select the Link image toggle.

  6. Enter the URL for the linked page.

  7. (Optional) Check the Open link in new tab box if you want the linked URL to open in a new web browser tab instead of the current one.

Preview, discard, save, or publish your changes

  • Preview: Preview your changes using Draft Mode.

  • Discard: Undo the changes since you last saved your draft.

  • Save draft: Save your current changes without publishing them.

  • Save & Publish or Publish: Publish your home page's current draft.

Preview a home page draft on mobile

Publishing administrators can see a draft of the home page on the Church Center mobile app by enabling Draft preview mode when logged in to the app. 

  1. Log in to the Church Center mobile app.

  2. Tap your profile icon in the upper right corner.

  3. Select My profile and settings.

  4. Under Administrator tools, toggle on Draft preview mode.

  5. Select Home in the navigation menu to see the home page draft.

Share your home page

  1. Select Pages from the top navigation bar.

  2. Select Home from the list of active pages.

  3. Select the Page Navigation & Access dropdown at the top of the editor to find the URL and QR code options for sharing your home page.

Set Me as your home page

Instead of the traditional home page, you can set Me as your congregant's start page in Church Center! This page is personalized to each congregant and shows their schedule, group membership, registration history, and organizations. Congregants can set their schedules, email team leaders, customize their profile and settings, and manage their giving from this page.

Tip

Your congregation can still tap Home in Church Center, if the Home page is in your navigation.

They can also view the Me page by selecting their profile image, even if it's not set as the start page. For more information on what congregants can do on the Me page, check out this article!

  1. Select the Customize page from the top navigation bar.

  2. Toggle the Make Me the start page setting to the right.

  3. Select Save & Publish.
